"Why did you give him lipstick?"

I was running errands this morning and Shawn was in a terrible mood. He was screaming and freaking out and didn't want to be in his car seat. I finally gave him the only thing I had to make him happy, lipstick. He liked putting the lid on and taking it off.
I stopped to drop something off at a lady's house in our neighborhood and ended up talking to her at the door for about 5 minutes. When I got back to the car I found Shawn like this.
(see picture below)
When I first saw him I about had a heart attack because I thought it was blood. For a split second I tried to figure out what he cut himself with and how horrible I was to let him sit there bleeding while I was talking. I was very relieved when I got closer and saw it was lipstick.
When things like this happen Jon will say something like, "why did you give him lipstick?" All I have to say is that when you have a kid screaming and he won't calm down and you are trying to drive or do something, you end up giving him anything you can (that's safe) to make him happy. Well at least I do. :)

Shawn wouldn't let me take a good picture of him, but you get the idea. It was all over his face and tons in his hair. Hey, at least he didn't put any on his clothes.

Sisters' Weekend

I just got back from our sisters weekend. We were going to go out of town somewhere, but decided to have a "stay-cation" in Salt Lake. We stayed downtown at the Hilton, which made it seem like we were really out of town. We had a lot of fun together shopping in Park City, eating out every meal and watching movies. Jessica was able to join us Saturday morning for breakfast at Kneaders. We are glad she was able to get away a little bit. It's hard to go very far when you have a two week old baby at home.
On Sunday we got a chance to go to the Music and the Spoken Word. I think the highlight of the weekend was Saturday night. We had just gotten out of a movie and decided we wanted a treat. We drove all over Salt Lake for about 45 minutes trying to decide where we want to go. We stopped for gas at 7/11 and ended up just getting a doughnut and hot chocolate. We couldn't believe that of all the things we discussed (The Roof, Olive Garden, etc.) we ended up at 7/11. The thing that was even sadder is that Sunday morning when we left our hotel we saw that Olive Garden was right next to our hotel. As in, it shared a wall with our hotel. It couldn't have been closer. Oh well, it made for a good story I guess.
It was nice to be able to spend time together and maybe even nicer to get a break from our kids. Thank you husbands!!
We went to Trolley Square since Tiff has never been there

This is the only photo we got of the three of us the whole weekend

Dad's wedding

My dad got married on Valentines Day to Robyn Pinegar. For any of those who might not know, my mom passed away from cancer last summer. My dad seems very happy to have found someone so great so fast. The wedding was nice. Everything, but the weather at the temple, turned out nice.
Tiffany trying to find some shelter from the storm while we wait outside the temple for the couple to come out.
This picture shows you how bad it was out there. We were all freezing and not very happy. Let's just say we only took about two family pictures.
My boys all dressed up.

This would have been a nice family photo if we didn't have to have the bear to keep Shawn from crying.

The three boy cousins. When you have three boys who are two or under, this is as good of a photo as you get.

The older boys: Antoine, James, J.P., Jon

The girls: Jessica, Tiffany, Me, Amy, and Allison

My favorite picture of the night. Isn't he too young to be resisting my kisses so much.

McCall Winter Festival

This weekend we went up the the McCall winter festival. Most people go just to see the snow sculptures. It was nice to get out and do something different. We had perfect weather. I brought us all tons of coats and hats and everything, but the sun was out and we really didn't need much to stay warm. Here are some pics...

Behind me is McCall Lake. As you can see it is totally frozen over and people are way out walking on it.

Shawn couldn't care less about the sculptures, but he was so happy to play in the snow

Jon's birthday adventures

We had a camping theme for Jon's birthday this weekend. I set up the tent while he was at work. When Jon sets up the tent he makes it look easy. When I tried to set up the tent, by myself, with Shawn at my feet, I was seriously considering calling one of our home teachers to come help me. I did it though, all on my own. I know you are very impressed.
This is the cake I made for Jon's birthday.
I had to take a closer picture of the fire because I had no idea how I was going to make a fire, but it turned out better than I thought. FORREST FIRE!!!!

This is the mess I made while making the cake. This is only part of the mess Shawn made while I was making the cake.
