2 Weeks

Evan is two weeks old and doing very well. He is a sweet little baby. He sleeps most of the day and hardly cries. There have been several nights where I have only had to wake up twice to feed him, which seems like heaven compared to how it was with Shawn. I hope I am not jinxing myself by saying that.

Evan

Evan decided to join our family on May 9th, Mothers Day, at 10:47 am. I started having painful contractions about 4:30 in the morning that were 10 minutes apart. I told Jon we had to hurry and go to the hospital. We grabbed Shawn and our bags and left. By the time we got to the hospital the contractions were about 3 minutes apart.
They took me to the observation room and the nurse checked my progress. She took me straight to a labor and delivery room instead of monitoring me there because I was already to a 6 by that point. They brought my epidural right away and the nurse was still taking my info and doing the adim. stuff while I was getting my epidural.
I think that slowed things down a bit, which they were very happy about because they wanted me to get two doses of the strep B antibiotic. They couldn't give me the second dose until a little after 10:00 am. They broke my water right after I got that dose and then I quickly went to a 10. I had to push 5 times to get Evan out, which was twice as many times as with Shawn. :) Jon says that I make having a baby look too easy. I try to remind him that even though I didn't feel all the pain, my body still went through the experience. The recovery is always the hard part for me.
Evan weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches long. He is a pretty adorable little boy if I do say so myself. He didn't have a cone head or any weird things from the delivery. He is a little sweetheart and hardly cries at all. I am probably just jinxing myself by saying that.
Shawn didn't know what to think the first day when he came to see us. He didn't like seeing me strapped to machines and sitting in the hospital bed. However, now that we are home he is so happy to have this little baby around. He always wants to hold him and he gives his little brother lots of kisses. While I was pregnant Shawn kept saying that he wanted the baby's name to be Marshmallow Face. Now he refers to the baby as Evan Marshmallow Face or Marshmallow Face Evan. At least he was willing to compromise. :)

Temple Square

A couple days ago we went to Temple Square to eat lunch with Jon. His office is only a block away from the temple. It was a beautiful day and I was so happy to see the tulips before they start to die. I took a bunch of pictures so I can try to copy the color schemes and such. However, I am sure it would cost a fortune to get even our tiny yard to look like this.
What a cute little boy :)

Tiffany came with us a took some pictures. Shawn would smile so sweet and then right before Tiff would take the picture Shawn would open his mouth. He did this multiple times until we just gave up.

Shawn's Ready

Shawn is really excited about the baby coming and he seems to really understand what is happening. I have taken a couple videos of him talking about the baby coming but I can't get them to post on here for some reason.
Yesterday I found this setup in the loft. Shawn explained to me that it is a bed for the baby. He also found a bottle and filled it with water for when the baby gets thirsty. When I asked him what the step-stool was for, he told me it was so the baby could get out of it's bed. I thought this was so thoughtful and cute of him.
Shawn tells me all the time that he is ready for the baby to come "right now" and he is so excited for him to come live at our house. I hope he has those same feelings when the baby is actually here. :)

Easter Weekend

So I realized after I loaded the pictures from my camera that I mainly took videos and not pictures this weekend. The videos of Shawn finding his Easter basket and the video of him on the Eater egg hunt were both really long so I am not going to try to post them on here. These other pictures/videos are from this weekend, but may not be totally related to Easter activities.
Shawn and I decided to go to Thanksgiving Point to meet up with J.P.'s family for the Easter events. However, J.P. called while we were on our way and said it was a nightmare. Too many kids and not worth the money. Shawn was not happy that we didn't go so I had to stop at PartyLand and let him ride this little animal ride and I bought him a ball. He was much happier.
This is the only picture I took of Shawn on the Easter Egg hunt at Grandpa J.'s house.

2nd Annual Girls Day

Yesterday was our 2nd annual girls day. We started the day at a bridal shower for our cousins' new fiancees. After stuffing our faces full at Aunt Gina's house we went to get our nails done at the beauty school. I was the lucky one to get the male manicurist. I haven't had a boy play with my hands that much since Jon and I were dating.
After getting our nails beautified, we headed downtown to try the much talked about Red Iguana Mexican Restaurant. It was delicious and the atmosphere was very.....colorful.
Then we headed to see the renovations at the capitol building. We didn't see a single thing different, but it was fun to just walk around since none of us had been there in a long time.
We tried to go to the Olympic Visitor Center at the U of U, but it was closed. So we headed to do some shopping at Trolley Square.
After shopping a bit we headed to dinner at Market Street Grill. I really liked the fish and I am not a big fish person. After getting sickly full for the 3rd time that day we decided we were all getting tired and headed home.
It was so fun to spend the day with just the girls and have a little break from the normal routine. Thanks to our husbands for taking care of the kids and the houses. Maybe we should make this a biannual event.

Amy and I shared a meal at Market Street Grille. They brought her out a plate so we could split our food. They were nice enough to give her her own lemon and tarter sauce. We had to take a picture though because it looks like that is all she ordered.

Getting my nails done. While getting my nails done I also got many beauty tips about how to keep my nails nice and how to avoid wrinkles. :)

Random update

I don't really have anything to blog about so I decided to post some random pictures from the last few weeks.
We put the crib back together in preparations for the baby. Shawn has decided it is his personal hangout and frequently requests that we put a blanket over the crib. He will stay in there and read books or play toys. Why didn't he love the crib that much when it was his bed?
Poking his head out for a minute to make sure I was still around.
I bought a grass tip for cake decorating and decided to try it out. Was going to just have grass all around the cake, but decided to add Elmo at the last minute. I call this Elmo's Easter egg hunt.
I went to a Relief Society activity and came home to this. I thought it was pretty cute.
I saw this Easter craft online and decided to try it. I would like to say that this was a really fun and easy project, but I would be lying. The only reason I finished the project is because I bought the stuff for it and didn't want it to go to waste.
